Duration of project1.1.2021–31.12.2022
Area of focusSociety

As a national service provider of the Consortium of Social Science Data Archives, CESSDA, the Finnish Social Science Data Archive has a continuous presence in many of its projects and working groups. Currently, FSD participates in eight CESSDA projects. In addition, FSD staff have recurring administrative tasks and memberships in CESSDA, including participating in the Tools Working Group and acting as content contacts for CESSDA services.

Goal

FSD takes part in the development of services for researchers throughout Europe by actively participating in the activities of CESSDA.

The Development of Metadata Aggregator project develops an OAI-based aggregator that collects and combines metadata of CESSDA archives. The development work builds on the Kuha2 software previously developed by FSD.

In the ELSST Project, FSD participates in the steering group of the multilingual thesaurus ELSST that develops the contents of the thesaurus.

The Journals Outreach project aims to inform and persuade journals that they can rely on CESSDA service providers for the deposit and sharing of data and replication files used in publications, rather than try to establish repositories themselves.

The Metadata Office project updates and promotes the CESSDA metadata model and other MDO outputs to service providers and other partners.

The Plan for CDC Upgrade project plans and develops new features in the CESSDA Data Catalogue.

The Training events project plans and organizes training for European researchers on various topics, such as research trends and analysis methods.

The Trust Activities project provides support and training for Service Providers to acquire the CoreTrustSeal certification and works on aligning certification evidence for CESSDA Service Providers.

The Widening of CESSDA European Coverage aims to continue CESSDA widening into new member states and data types. Another goal is to strengthen cooperation with global partners.

The Tools Working Group prioritises and realises new tools and services from Service Providers and third parties for users.
