Center for Research on Operations, Projects and Services (CROPS)

The global industrial field is under constant change: industrial operations no longer deal with manufacturing only, but increasingly also with services and complex solutions. Center for Research on Operations, Projects and Services studies, develops and teaches management of industrial operations in manufacturing, supply networks and project and service business. The emphasis is on phenomena that organisations face when they renew their operations to succeed in the international competitive landscape.

Research focus and goals

Our mission is to support Finnish and international organisations in their renewal of operations and business, and to generate new knowledge in the international research field. The goal is to promote the renewal of manufacturing businesses through high-quality research, education and influence in the society.

The groups research focuses on the following themes:

  • The role and development of manufacturing as part of value creation in business
  • Industrial firms transformation towards service business
  • Management and organisation in project business
  • Value creation in collaborative customer supplier relationships.

We deploy our mission through research and development projects and basic, doctoral and continuing education in collaboration with industrial firms, public sector organisations and other research institutions. We participate actively in the most significant international research networks in our field.
