Celiac disease in the adulthood

The group is part of the Celiac Disease Research Center and investigates the epidemiology of celiac disease and its highly varying clinical picture. One important focus area of the research is to improve the diagnostics of celiac disease towards non-invasive procedures. In addition, studies address the gluten-free diet in terms of its optimisation and the burden of celiac disease to the patients themselves and the health care system.

Research focus and goals

The aims of the group are to identify factors that contribute to the heterogeneous clinical picture of celiac disease and to clarify the burden of celiac disease to the patients and the health care system.

Moreover, the aims include the optimization of the gluten-free dietary treatment and the improvement of the diagnostics of celiac disease towards non-invasive procedures.
