The Assessment of Transversal Skills 2020 (ATS2020) project proposes a comprehensive learning model to enhance student transversal, 21st century indispensable, skills, within the diverse EU national curricula, including provision of teachers with modern approaches and innovative tools for the assessment of these skills.

Assessment of Transversal Skills 2020 (ATS2020) is an innovative policy experimentation project co-funded by the European Commission. The project is comprised of 17 partners from 11 EU countries.

ATS2020 provides a comprehensive learning model for the enhancement of student indispensable transversal skills within curricula and offers new approaches and innovative tools to teacher for the development and assessment of these skills.

Goal

The project is ongoing in 10 piloting countries (BEL, CYP, CRO, EST, GRE, FIN, IRL, LIT, SLO, SPA), 250 schools, 1.000 teachers, 10.000 students (aged 10 to 15 years) during the school year 2016-17.

It facilitates the implementation of ePortfolios and innovative teaching/learning approaches and validates/evaluates using mixed-method evaluation.

Transversal skills refer to a broad set of key skills that are known to be critically important to success in school, further education and the world of work. They include the ability to think critically, take initiative, use digital tools, solve problems and work collaboratively.

The Finnish action research unit produces e.g. My Learning Cycle, a planning model for education, as well as support for the use of edtech tools and assessment.
