AnalytiikkaÄly (AnalyticsIntel - Learning analytics and educational paths) 2018-2020

Tampere University

The AnalytiikkaÄly (AnalyticsIntel - Learning analytics and educational paths) project promotes the use of learning analytics in facilitating the study process, designing students learning paths, creating smooth entries into working life, as well managing university leadership.

Learning analytics refers to the optimal use of data created in the learning process in order to support teaching, learning, and leadership. Using analytics enables us to detect bottlenecks in learning, to support self-leadership, and the general study flow.

Background

Seven universities have joined forces to define the use cases of learning analytics, to develop and pilot digital applications and measures to support study methods, and to test the tools and usability of the process.

By using learning analytics, we can visualize data gathered from different sources. The data mining can be automated and the results can be integrated into learning and teaching processes.

As a result, students are able to develop their self leadership by collecting data on their personal study performance. Learning analytics can ease decision-making. The users can participate in the planning, testing, and evaluation phases.
