Adult Education as a Means to Active Participatory Citizenship (EduMAP)

Tampere University

The research focuses on adult education among 16 to 30 year old young adults at risk of social exclusion in EU countries.

Background

Research has shown that the European adult education system has failed to meet the educational needs of many vulnerable groups. Those who are left without suitable education are at risk of being excluded from the labour market and the society.

Goal

The project investigates what kind of educational policies and practices are needed to reach young adults at risk of social exclusion. Particular attention is paid to educational policies and practices needed to foster active citizenship among vulnerable young people. The project will develop a prototype of a web-based Intelligent Decision Support System (IDSS) in the field of adult education.
