About me
I am currently finalizing my doctoral thesis “Heterosexuality as an ambivalent attachment. Reading women’s narration through affect and time” in Gender Studies at the Tampere University. My research interests include the entanglements of power and emotions in intimate relationships, feminist and queer theories and methodologies, temporality theories and affect theories. I am interested in the ways in which gendered conventions frame the lived experiences of couple relationships and how those conventions are challenged both institutionally and individually in the everyday life. Moreover, I explore how norms on gender and sexuality rely on a temporal paradigm. I have published on challenging gendered conventions in heterosexual relationships, on discourses on heterosexuality in sexual education materials, on men’s experiences of prostate cancer treatments and on female complaint as an expression of gender inequality. Moreover, I have taught undergraduate courses on gender and sexuality in Gender Studies in different universities in Finland.
My doctoral work is part of Academy of Finland funded research project (2015-2019) Just the Two of Us? Affective inequalities in intimate relationships (31213265711).
I am currently working as a researcher in the project Hallituksen tasa-arvo-ohjelmien vaikuttavuus ja toimivuus (TAOVA), which focuses on Finnish governmental equality programs as instruments for initiating gender equality.
