On Tuesday 21 September, Tampere University participates in the Zero Emission Day by launching a mapping of climate researchers and their expertise within the Universities community. The aim is to make the University’s expertise more easily available to media and our partners.

Tuesday 21 September marks the global Zero Emissions Day, a campaign to reduce emissions and consumption. As part of the campaign day activities, Tampere University begins a mapping of the University’s climate researchers and their expertise.

The aim is to publish a list of Tampere University’s multidisciplinary climate research in autumn 2021. This will make the expertise of researchers more accessible to different actors in society, such as the media, businesses, and other organisations.
Through the mapping exercise and the resulting list of researchers, the University wants to bear its responsibility and support society in the search for climate-friendly solutions.

“Work to reduce the emissions of the entire Tampere Universities community and achieve the 2030 carbon neutrality target will continue, but research and education will also help the University to reach out to the wider community with its positive carbon handprint,” says Senior Specialist Matias Nurminen from the Sustainable Development and Innovation Culture project.

Tampere University has been challenged to participate in the Zero Emissions Day by the Climate Leadership Coalition (CLC), Europe’s largest non-profit climate business network. Tampere University is a member of this network of 87 actors, and it's experts participate in CLC's thematic groups and advisory work.
