Tampereen yliopiston opiskelijavalinnan tulokset valmistuivat – tarjolla myös vaihtoehtoisia reittejä yliopistoon
Approximately 3,000 new students were admitted to studies beginning at Tampere University next autumn. All applicants who participated in the joint application of spring 2019 have received a national results letter. In some programmes, new applicants may still be admitted from the queue until end of July.

As in previous years, the most popular programmes based on primary applicants were the degree programmes in medicine and business studies. The master of science in technology degrees gained popularity across the board.

In the autumn, a total of nearly 3,500 new students will begin their studies, as 590 additional applicants for master’s degree programmes taught in English were admitted earlier in the spring.

Admitted directly with matriculation certificates or through alternative routes

In some of the programmes, a part of the students were admitted in May without entrance examinations based on their matriculation examination grades. These include master of science in technology studies, business studies and administrative sciences. In the 2020 student admissions, certificate-based admissions will be applied in most programmes.

Students may also be admitted to Tampere University through open university studies, transfer admissions or science contest merits. This autumn, more than 110 students admitted through open routes, science contest merits or transfer admissions will begin their studies at Tampere University.

“Open university route studies in our various fields offer a great opportunity for students who did not receive an opening in this application round. These alternative routes allow the students to put the gap year to good use and apply anew based on their open university study merits,” notes Planning Officer Meeri Oikemus from the university’s Admissions Office.

The first all-new students of Tampere University

The students who start their studies in the autumn are Tampere University’s first all-new students.

“Each new student will receive a welcome package from Tampere University. This is our way of welcoming the new students as part of our community,” says Vice President for Education Marja Sutela.

The student admission results of the joint application for higher education institutions can be viewed in the My Studyinfo service. Applicants must submit their acceptance of admission no later than 3pm on 8 July 2019.

All applicants who participated in the joint application of spring 2019 will receive a national results letter that contains the admission results and selection points itemised for each applied programme. In some of the programmes, new applicants may still be admitted from the queue. The queue admissions will end at 3pm on 31 July 2019.

The new students will start their studies on Monday, 19 August 2019 with an orientation week.  Tampere University’s opening of the academic year ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 10 September 2019.
