Tampere University is proud to launch a new joint scholarship programme CSC Tampere University scholarship programme together with China Scholarship Council. The China Scholarship Council operates under the Chinese Ministry of Education providing funding for Chinese nationals to study and conduct research abroad and foreign students and scholars to study in China.

“This new funding channel, covering PhD students, post-doctoral fellows and visiting scholars alike, will be a significant boost to Tampere University's research collaboration with leading Chinese universities”, says Dr. Juha Teperi, Vice President, Research.

The joint programme allows for ten Chinese PhD students to start and complete a full PhD programme with CSC funding at Tampere University annually. Funding is also allocated to visiting researchers and visiting post doctoral fellows from China to Tampere University.

The new joint scholarship programme strengthens the longstanding engagement of the University with China and provides an important funding instrument for deepening relations with Chinese partner institutions. It also plays an essential role in attracting Chinese PhD students to our campuses and eventually increasing the number of Chinese students at Tampere University.

The deadline for applications to the joint scholarship programme is in March for the Chinese applicants. The applicants should have received a definite offer letter from Tampere University when submitting the application to CSC.

Applicants interested in applying for doctoral programmes with a continuous application process are requested to approach potential supervisors as soon as possible to initiate the application process. Candidates accepted to doctoral programmes in the autumn application round may take this opportunity to apply for CSC funding.
