Do you want to have an occupational wellbeing or weight management group to your workplace? Do you need an individual training programme or muscle treatment? Are you worried about your balance? Tampere University of Applied Sciences’ new Fiilis Centre offers these and many other wellbeing and health services.

In the Fiilis Centre, social services and health care students produce diverse wellbeing services as a part of their studies. The centre offers ready-made and tailor-made service entities.

“In addition to private persons, workplaces, schools and day-care centres, among others, are welcome to become our clients,” tells Coordinator Soile Iivonen from the Fiilis Centre.

The paid services are implemented under supervision either at the client’s home or in TAMK’s facilities. The service prices are affordable.

“Our students are very skilled. Multiprofessional groups make it possible for us to meet our clients’ very different wishes and needs.”

For companies and private persons

The Fiilis Centre offers for example occupational wellbeing groups and first aid classes for workplaces and companies. An occupational wellbeing package for companies may include measurements, lectures, physical exercise and other wellbeing activities for a couple of months.

“We can organise a teddy bear clinic for day-care groups. Children can bring their soft toy to the clinic for treatment and home-care instructions.”

New services

New health care services include patient help, help after hospital discharge, socialising and recreation companion.

“We are piloting our patient help service free of charge among Tampere University Hospital’s patients. In this service, nursing students help patients during their hospital visit, guiding them from one place to another,” Iivonen tells.

The patient help service will also be available to others from autumn 2019.

Physiotherapy Clinic offers a variety of services

The Physiotherapy Clinic, formerly Wellbeing Clinic, is a part of the Fiilis Centre. Its services include functional ability tests, body composition tests, bike ergometer tests, muscular balance tests, muscle treatments and group activities.

Wellbeing, social services, health care and business administration students of the Fiilis Centre also organise diverse wellbeing and health events around the Tampere Region.

“We offer theme days on wellbeing promotion. It is worth contacting us and telling about your wishes,” Clinic Manager Terhi Korkola tells.
