Screenwriting Workshop with Linda Seger

This October Dr. Linda Seger will visit TAMK and give us an opportunity to enjoy her talent at a two day screenweiting workshop.

Dr. Linda Seger is the author of fifteen books, many of which spanning several editions and numerous foreign translations. Nine of these books are on screenwriting and film-making, including the best-selling Making a Good Script Great, Creating Unforgettable Characters, and Writing Subtext.

Dr. Seger has consulted on over 2,000 scripts, including over 50 produced feature films and over 35 produced television projects, and has given seminars in over 30 countries around the world

This October Dr. Seger will visit TAMK and give us an opportunity to enjoy her talent at a two day screenwriting workshop.

DAY ONE 11.10.2019

10-11:15 - Art, Craft, and Creativity

The seminar will begin by discussing the difference between art, craft and creativity. We will
discuss the creative process and how to make it work for you. We will also discuss the art and craft of storytelling, including shaping and structuring the story and subplots. Using lecture, film clips and Q & A, the morning session will look at ways that the structure supports the story, and what the story needs to do to create a satisfying film.

13:45–14:45 - Exploring the Theme and How to Work with the Theme, Giving Meaning to the Story and Deepening the Story

DAY TWO 12.10.2019

13:45–14:45 - Writing Dialogue and Subtext and Creating the Tansformational Arc

In this afternoon session, we will be watching film clips from the movie As Good as It Gets, which is one of the great movies to illustrate the transformational arc and great dialogue. Dr. Seger will be stopping and starting the film to point out examples of all that we have talked about in the seminars as well as looking carefully of how the transformational arc moves throughout the story.
