The traditional Research Day of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology (MET) brought together over 250 clinical medicine, biomedicine and medical technology researchers from the Faculty on Thursday and Friday 25–26.11.2021. The researchers presented their recent research, and gathered to form networks and to find new cooperation partners.

This year’s keynote speakers were Blanca Rodriguez, Professor of Computational Biology at Oxford University, and Dan Peer, Professor of Precision Medicine at Tel Aviv University and MET’s Research Director Olli Lohi from the Tampere Center for Child, Adolescent and Maternal Health Research.

The title of Rodriguez’s lecture was Towards Precision Cardiology with In Silico Clinical Trials and Digital Twins. Peer’s topic was The RNA Revolution: from Vaccines to Genome Editing. Lohi’s speech was about Genomics and targeted therapy of childhood leukemia, read more about it here: Genomics and precision medicine help the treatment of childhood leukemia.

The programme spanned two mornings and included 15 10-minute research presentations and over 100 pitches from different fields. You can find the programme on the MET Research Day 2021 website.
