The student union chose President Markku Lahtinen as the Staff Member of the Year. The award was published on 16 September in connection with the TAMK staff day, which was spent on campus and online.

Tamko’s Chairperson Emmi Lainpelto presented the diploma and award to Markku Lahtinen. The grounds for the award were that President Lahtinen works in a fair and very professional manner.

“Markku is a president with an easy-going approach. He listens to every field of the universities community equally,” stated Emmi Lainpelto.

Particularly this approachability and consideration of students’ wellbeing were thanked in students’ comments.

“Markku has shown that a president can be approachable to everyone in the universities community. The award emphasises that Markku Lahtinen works for all of us at TAMK.”

The TAMK Staff Member of the Year is chosen based on proposals made for the student union. The board of the student union decides on the award winner. TAMK Staff Members of the Year have been chosen and awarded since 2005.
