Over 80 Tampere University Scholars ranked among "World's Top 2% Scientists"

Stanford University has recently published an update of the list of the 2022 World's Top 2% Scientists from different disciplines. This ranking, considered the one of the most prestigious worldwide, is based on the bibliometric information contained in the Scopus database. It includes more than 200,000 researchers that compose the top 2 % of the more than 8 million scientists that are considered to be active worldwide working on 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields.  

Tampere University staff on the list is represented by 88 affiliated scientists with the most visible scientific fields being Information & Communication Technologies, Clinical Medicine, Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing, Networking & Telecommunications, Physics & Astronomy, and Social Sciences.  

Staff currently affiliated to the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences (emeritus, employed and visiting) are strongly represented on the list, with 30 ITC researchers. As the Faculty's strongest achievement, Professor Juho Hamari was ranked first in Finland and third in the world in the two following disciplines: Information Systems, and Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing. In addition, also this year Hamari was included in the Clarivate Top 0.1% 2 022, Highly Cited Researchers .
