This year 3562 new students have been admitted to Tampere University. More students received a study place than last year (3395). A total of 28 881 applicants sought admission to Tampere University in the second round of the national joint application scheme in the spring of 2022. Based on the number of applications received, Tampere University was the second most popular choice among applicants of all the universities in Finland.

Judging by the number of first-choice applicants, the programmes leading to a licentiate degree in medicine, a degree in economics and business administration and a degree in psychology were once again the most popular fields of study at Tampere University. In addition, the programmes leading to a teaching degree, an administrative sciences degree and a social sciences degree were of interest to many.

In August 2022, 3562 new students will enrol on the Finnish-language degree programmes at Tampere University. In addition, more than 850 applicants who sought admission to degree programme offered through the medium of English were accepted earlier in the spring.

Admission granted to 144 students through MOOC courses

In August 2022, Tampere University will welcome 144 new students who sought admission through MOOC courses.

Depending on the field of study the MOOC course either replaces the entrance examination or functions an additional route for admission. To be eligible for admission via this route the applicant must have completed the course required by the field of study and the academic performance must meet the requirements. This route was available in following fields of study: Mathematics and Statistical Data Analysis, Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Lifelong Learning and Education and Social Sciences.

The academic year will start on the campuses

The welcome weeks for new students will be organised on the campuses in late August, considering the current safety measures and hygiene instructions. Tutor groups will meet in person on the campuses.

Teaching is carried out as face-to-face education on the campuses when the autumn semester begins. However, a hybrid or remote teaching model may be taken in the use if pedagogically justified. Tampere University is monitoring the recommendations issued by the public health authorities and will update the guidelines if necessary.

All newly admitted students are advised to read the new student checklist and programme-specific instructions, which are available on the University’s website, well in advance before the academic semester begins. Read more on Students Guide.

Accept the study place by 15 July

The results of student admission under the joint national application scheme are available in the My Studyinfo service. Newly admitted students must accept their offer of admission no later than 15 July 2022 at 15:00 (3 pm).

All applicants who sought admission to higher education under Finland's joint national application scheme in the spring 2022 will receive a letter with the admission results and the minimum score for admission to each field of study. In some fields of study, applicants placed on the waiting list may still be admitted if places open; the closing date is 2 August 2022 at 15:00 (3 pm).

Applicants who sought admission through the Open University route or universities’ transfer application have been informed of the publication of the admission results by email.
