More than 2,000 new professionals graduated from TAMK during an exceptional year
“2020 was a challenging year in many ways for both students and staff. Now at the end of the year, we can state that we succeeded in organisation of teaching and services as well as possible. The number of completed credits was even higher than the year before. We follow the pandemic closely and aim at ensuring learning preconditions and a safe environment for all,” says Vice President Päivi Karttunen.
The multidisciplinary TAMK has eight fields of education. 1,742 students completed a bachelor’s degree and 281 students completed a master’s degree. TAMK publishes the graduates’ names on its website monthly. Names of bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates of 31 December 2020 will be published on 15 January 2021.
On the graduation ceremony day on 17 December, TAMK awarded four students for the best theses of the year:
- Elina Hautamäki and Laura Palosaari, Degree Programme in Hospitality Management: The Commercialization of a New Wild Fish Product Family - New Finnish Food Innovations Reinforcing Sustainable Food Production
- Aleksi Herlevi, Degree Programme in Electrical and Automation Engineering: Design of a Measurement Data Collection System That Supports Preventive Maintenance
- Janne Väyrynen, Master’s Degree Programme in Construction Engineering: Special Features of High-Rise Buildings in the Design of Coupling Beams

A total of 244 students completed professional teacher education, special needs teacher education or guidance counsellor education at TAMK in 2020. The latest list of teacher education graduates was published on 31 December.
Joint application to English-language higher education starting in autumn 2021 began in December-January. Application to Finnish-language degree programmes takes place in March. Professional teacher education can be applied in January.
