Latest updates on the coronavirus

Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences are actively monitoring the coronavirus situation and decisions issued by the public authorities and will issue necessary instructions together. In all our communications, we will adhere to the instructions provided by the public authorities and respect the privacy of individuals.

Our instructions are in line with the nationwide guidelines approved by Universities Finland (Unifi) and the Rectors’ Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences (Arene).

The facilities of Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences will primarily remain closed. 

All doors to the campus buildings will remain closed to external persons. Only specifically designated persons are authorised to access the premises, or access may be granted upon separate agreement. 

As announced earlier, teaching will continue to be primarily delivered online in accordance with the government’s recommendation. When the first period of the autumn semester begins, Tampere Universities will switch to mainly remote learning, meaning that students will only attend essential classes (such as laboratory classes, small group teaching sessions, or student support sessions) in person in campus locations. Lectures will primarily be delivered remotely. Read more

Please enter the campus buildings via the main entrances, which are located close to the information desks.

It is possible to collect items from the campus by agreeing in advance on a pick-up schedule with info desk staff by email or phone.  Please see the intranet for the Info desk contact information.

You can collect necessary IT equipment that you need when working from home by agreeing on a pick-up schedule with IT Helpdesk in advance. IT Helpdesk contact information and opening hours are available on the intranet.

Goods and courier deliveries will be centrally received on the campuses. Recipients will be notified of received deliveries and further procedure will be agreed with the recipients.  Mail and deliveries between campuses operate normally. All mail is sorted and delivered normally. When necessary, service units can agree specific procedures for handling mail by contacting info desk.

Posti Parcel Lockers located in the campuses are closed.

Student mobility

Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) will not send students abroad to complete an exchange period or an internship in the autumn semester 2020. The universities will not host incoming exchange students or interns next autumn. This decision will apply to all international mobility, with the exception of time spent studying abroad by students who are working towards a joint or double degree and other short periods of study abroad (such as intensive courses).

All students who are directly affected by the decision will be personally contacted by the International Mobility Services of Tampere University and TAMK, respectively.
