Lecture by Robert Coelen, professor of Internationalisation of Higher Education, Stenden University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands

Lecture description:
There is a disconnect between the key stakeholders of the transition process of graduates from education to work in respect of a comprehensive understanding of the benefits of an internationalised education for employability. At the same time, as internationalisation continues its shift form the margins of higher education to its core, the issue of equity looms large for not internationally mobile students. This lecture will provide some recent insights into these aspects and has some key messages for universities.

Robert Coelen is Professor of Internationalisation of Higher Education at Stenden University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. He also holds an appointment as visiting professor at Tongji University, Shanghai, China. Prior to this appointment, he spent about 20 years as a university executive in Australia and the Netherlands concerned with internationalisation. He is Director of the Centre for Internationalisation of Education at the University of Groningen, Campus Fryslân. His latest book (Routledge, upcoming) deals with the topic of this lecture.
