Helsingin Sanomat Foundation funds education in data journalism
“This is a great vote of confidence from the Foundation to Tampere University as an educator of journalists. It is a new breakthrough,” says University Lecturer Marko Ala-Fossi who directs the new project.
The “Covid 19: local crisis information and news ecosystem” project led by Professor Jaana Hujanen received €196.000. The project will be carried out as a collaboration between the Universities of Helsinki, Turku, and Tampere.
In the two-phase call for applications in spring 2021, the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation invited researchers to submit applications related to crisis communication and journalism. Fifteen projects responded to the thematic call.
