The trends of the product development approach transformation in the period of Industry 4.0 development are described. The role of customization in the process of developing, manufacturing, and promoting a product that enables industrial enterprises to improve effectiveness will also be defined. These transformations in the economy require significant investments. The use of a balanced scorecard (including economic, environmental, social, and innovative components) in the selection of potential investment objects is justified in Business 4.0.
