Research, Development and Innovation
Development projects are implemented in living labs where the professional expertise of TAMK's staff and the students' fresh ideas are applied to our partners' development needs. A living lab is a real-life test and experimentation environment where users and producers work collaboratively to produce innovative solutions.
Most of our RDI projects are extensive development projects implemented together with other higher education institutions, companies, public sector organisations and non-profit organisations (the so-called third sector). The projects develop new, broad-based solutions for regional and national needs. At the same time, we also help companies develop their product and service selection for future needs.
We cooperate with both the private and public sector. We solve problems of all sizes. Small student-led projects can lead to large-scale development partnerships. An important function of our work is to promote the establishment of new spin-off companies.
TAMK's strong expertise in the field of education is being applied in the development of products and services which include an educational component.
Social benefits are a key aspect of all TAMK RDI. Our RDI work supports not only TAMK's educational provision, but also the economic life and development of the entire Tampere region.
Important sources of funding for our RDI activities are the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF), the ministries of Finland and Business Finland.
