Fair Trade universities

In October 2019, Tampere Universities received the Fair Trade University title awarded by Fairtrade Finland. The designation gives recognition to institutions that are committed to promoting sustainable consumption and ethical trade. Maintaining the title also signifies a determination to take global responsibility.

The prerequisite for the title of a Fair Trade University is that the university community uses fair trade products and communicates fair trade-related themes to staff and students. The title also requires that there is a fair trade advocacy working group in the university community.  This task is performed by the sustainable development steering group of Tampere Universities.
