Mark Seres - student ambassador
Student Ambassador Márk Seres first came to Tampere for an exchange and decided to stay and applied to study a degree at TAMK. He now studies in the International Business degree programme.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here originally?

I have been living in Tampere for a bit more than 1 year now. Originally, I came here to be an ice hockey referee and as an exchange student for half year it became the reality. From the half year it became 1 year, and I felt that here is the place where I want to finish my studies, so I applied to the TAMK – IB and now I am here.

What subject do you study and how did you choose it?

I study International Business here because in Hungary I was studying Accounting and Finance, so I wanted to stay close to Economics.

What do you like about Tampere and Finland the most?

I like a lot of things here: ice hockey, northern lights, the mentality, public saunas and real winters.

What about your hobbies here in Tampere or in Finland?

I can say that my hobby is my job. The ice hockey officiating takes my weekends and sometimes my weekdays too. But I love it, so I don’t mind if I don’t have so much free time. But when I have, I usually go to sauna and swim in the lake. I really like books so at the morning and evening I usually start and finish my day with that. Whenever I have the opportunity, I like to try out new things that I have never done before.

What would you say to someone deciding whether Tampere is the right place to come to study and live?

Since I came here in 2018, I feel that it was the best decision in my life. It’s hard to express in words what this city and these people have given me. Just come here and experience it. I am sure who comes here will not regret it.

Anything else you want to say?

If you want to get to know a Finn just go to the sauna or a pub. The success is guaranteed.
