Tampere University of Applied Sciences
Minh Pham - student ambassador
Student Ambassador Minh Pham is studying Media and Arts at TAMK and is enjoying his time in Tampere.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here originally?

I have been living in Tampere for a year and two months now. I originally came to this lovely city for my degree programme in Media and Arts and have been enjoying every day since!

What subject do you study and how did you choose it?

I selected Media and Arts as my major and my specialisation is Fine Arts. Tampere University of Applied Sciences was the only school that offered an English-speaking programme in this field when I came here. I chose to study Media and Arts mainly because of my passion for motion picture, film-making and animation.

What do you like about Tampere and Finland the most?

Tampere is the perfect city to live as a student. The city itself is lively and vibrant, but not as rushed as the Metropolitan area. You have lovely cafés and huge shopping centres as well as the nature, the fresh air and clean water of Näsijärvi. The city is a student-friendly city with the University hub also. You feel truly international here with a great connection to the capital area. Finns are friendly and innovative, and incredible to be friends with!

What about your hobbies here in Tampere or in Finland?

Capturing moments, landscapes of the Finnish scenery in my camera. I love summer picnics and sauna, or just simply enjoy the stunning nature around me.

What would you say to someone deciding whether Tampere is the right place to come to study and live?

It is the right place! Everyone is welcome here!
