Requirements

Exam, project work, exercises and laboratory demonstrations.
Completion parts must belong to the same implementation

Learning Outcomes

By completing the course student recognizes and understands different assembly processes and technologies used in different manufacturing industries. Student learns how to design products to be easy-to-assemble. Student also recognizes and understands basic system components, structures, principles and design rules of manual, automated and hybrid assembly systems, and is able to apply his/her knowledge and state-of-the-art tools and methods for defining, designing, analyzing and assessing simple assembly systems and applications.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. Modularization in assembly and design for Assembly (DFA).   Design for X (DFX).
2. Assembly strategies. Manual, semiautomatic and automatic assembly.   Sustainability in assembly production.
3. Commonly used assembly processes and technologies for different manufacturing industries. Structures and components of assembly systems.  Special assembly processes.
4. Assembly system design. Assembly process and system planning tools and methods.  Lean tools and implementation in assembly production.
