Learning Outcomes

The student can -describe the essential functional anatomy of human organ systems. - describe functioning of the physiological organ systems qualitatively and quantitatively. - apply mathematical methods to the analysis of physiological organ systems and development of technological and clinical applications.

Content

1. Cells and tissues. Basic concepts of physiology. Quantitative approach. Integration of organ systems and homeostasis.      
2. Nervous system: anatomy and structure. Functioning of the neuron. Neural regulation. Senses. Modeling of nervous system.  Diagnostic and therapeutic methods.   
3. Cardiovascular system: anatomy, functioning and regulation. Heart muscle: electrical and mechanical functioning. Circulation, hemodynamics. Modelling.  Diagnostic and therapeutic methods.   
4. Respiratory system: anatomy and structure  Diagnostic methods.   
5. Renal and gastrointestinal systems. Endocrine system.  Diagnostic and therapeutic methods.   

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

Grades 1-2: Learning outcomes have been achieved. Satisfactory command in core content of the course. Grades 3-4: Some learning outcomes have been exceeded qualitatively or quantitatively. Good command in core content and complementary knowledge of the course. Grade 5: Most of the learning outcomes have been exceeded. Deep command in the whole content of the course.

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
