Principles and baselines related to teaching and learning

The central aspects and principles of each subject entity will be presented and discussed in the lectures. Practical applications will be learned during the exercises.

Joining methods for metals:properties and application areas. The influence of joining methods on material properties. Weldability and welding practices of materials.

1. 1. Metallurgy of fusion welding. Fusion welding methods and their application areas for different materials. Resistance and solid state welding methods:properties and application areas. 2. Mechanization and automatization of welding. 3. Soldering and brazing. Novel brazing consumables. 4. Adhesive joining of metals and related aspects. Combination of different joining methods. 5. Aspects on the consideration of joining in the designing and materials selection of structures.  The influence of different joining methods on the properties of materials and structures. The weldability and welding methods of different materials. Long term durability of adhesive joints and factors influencing on the durability.  Designing and dimensioning principles of welded structures. 

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

In the evaluation of the course both the examination and exercises and exercise reports will be considered.

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
