Learning Outcomes

Student can explain the mechanisms of cell proliferation, differentiation, and cellualr communication mechanisms. Student can describe the bioelectric and mechanobiological phenomena of various cells and their applications and models. Student is able to practice basic recordings from the cells and manipulate the cells. Student can also describe the basics of modelling of cellular phenomena.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. Proliferation and differentiation of the cells.  Differentiation towards warious cell groups.
2. Basic cellular communication and mechanisms.
3. Basics of stem cell technology and stem cell sources.  Appilication towards tissue repair.
4. Cellular electrophysiology an bioelectric phenomena and their models.  Comutational modelling of cellualr bioelectric phenomena.
5. Recordings and manipulation of the cellular functions.
6. Basics of mechanobiology and interactions.  Mechanobiology and biomaterial interaction.

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

The final grade of the course is determined based on the assessment of all part of the course. The weighting factor of each part is given at the beginning of the course. Grades 1-2: Learning outcomes have been achieved. Satisfactory command in core content of the course. Grades 3-4: Some learning outcomes have been exceeded qualitatively or quantitatively. Good command in core content and complementary knowledge of the course. Good or very good marks from all parts of the course. Grade 5: Most of the learning outcomes have been exceeded. Deep command in the whole content of the course. Almost maximum performance in all parts of the course.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Partial passing:
