Learning Outcomes

After passing the course, students know how to analyze, design, implement and measure common passive microwave components and how to summarize the design methods and relevant results in a technical report.

Content

1. Microwave circuit theory. Impedance and admittance matrices, chain parameters, scattering parameters.     
2. Passive microwave components: power dividers, hybrids, couplers, filters,...     
3. Project. Wilkinson power divider, directional coupler, branch-line hybrid, ring hybrid, microstrip stub filter.  Modern simulation software: AWR Microwave Office.   

Instructions for students on how to achieve the learning outcomes

Student has to pass the exam and complete the project work. Bonus points can be collected from optional homework submissions.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Partial passing:

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation

Additional information about prerequisites
Basic knowledge of electromagnetics and electronics. Fabrication of circuit boards, measurements with vector network analyzer.
