Learning Outcomes

The goal is to strengthen the communication theoretic basis for advanced wireless system development. After completing the course, a student has gained in-depth expertise in selected timely topics in the field of wireless communication waveforms and signal processing functions.

Content

1. Review of linear digital modulation methods using the signal space concepts. Frequency-domain equalization methods.     
2. Basics of statistical signal processing and detection and estimation theory with application in channel estimation and equalization.  Deeper understanding of detection and estimation theory.   
3. Diversity concepts. Multiantenna and MIMO system concepts.  Deeper understanding of MIMO techniques.   
4. Iterative detection and decoding methods and receiver structures; multiuser detection, turbo codes, LDPC codes.  Deeper understanding of advanced detection and decoding methods.

The assessment is based on the exam, which is targeted to measuring the knowledge gained in the core contents.

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course
