Learning outcomes

An introductory course to virtual reality. Gives the basic concepts to understand and evaluate VR systems, applications and simulators and their impact on future digital systems and user interfaces. Suits for students of all fields of science.

Content

1. Introduction to virtual reality. What is virtual reality. The basic components of a virtual reality system.  Human factors in VR. Examples of VR applications.  History of VR.  
2. Input and output devices. Trackers, navigation and gestural interfaces. Graphics, three-dimensional sound and haptic displays.     
3. Computing architectures for virtual reality.     
4. Basic information of VR modeling and VR programming.      

Evaluation criteria for the course

The student has to get at least half of the maximum points from the final exam and a project work must be accepted.

Assessment scale:

Numerical evaluation scale (1-5) will be used on the course

Partial passing:

Completion parts must belong to the same implementation
