Objectives
During the course students will be introduced to the basics of Finnish. Students will learn how to pronounce Finnish. They will be familiar with the vocabulary and phraseology needed in everyday situations.

Content

1. Vocabulary: greetings and everyday phrases, telling the time, family, food and menu.       
2. Speaking: pronunciation, communicating in everyday situations using simple expressions.       
3. Listening: recognizing the sounds and understanding simple everyday phrases.       
4. Reading: simple texts on familiar topics.       
5. Grammar: the most common endings will be introduced. Making questions and forming negative sentences.       

Requirements for completing the course
Active participation in lectures (75 % attendance) and successful performance in the final examination.
