Objectives
The course provides deeper knowledge about machine vision topics specialised to production automation, microproduction, microfactories, and laser processes. After the course the student knows how to use microscopic and high speed imaging systems, how to apply 3D-measurement systems, and how to calibrate cameras to be used as part of modern industrial automation.

Content
Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. Imaging in microworld: Macro imaging, microscopic imaging.
2. Camera calibration: Extrinsic and intrinsic parameters, their effects on images and ways to find them. 2D and 3D calibration targets. Image normalization.
3. High speed imaging: Central parameters and qualities of imaging systems, triggering settings, strobing. High speed illumination.
4. Central methods for 3D-imaging: Time-of-flight, depth from focus, triangulation, (multi-baseline) stereo. Autofocusing.

Requirements for completing the course
Accepted laboratory assignments, acceptably returned and presented seminar work, sufficient participation to seminars.
