Course objectives
To understand main properties of engineering ceramics and ceramic matrix composites. To give abilities to use these materials in different applications.

Content of the course
Most important engineering ceramics and composites, mechanical properties and other properties. Machining techniques, effect of machining on strength and design of ceramic components to understand shape limitations of ceramic components. Processing techniques, powders, processing additives, forming and sintering. Effect of sintering additives on high temperature properties. Examples from main areas ceramic materials are used.

Examination from given material, compulsory exercises.
